The law cannot rule over your relationships. The law cannot regulate your friendships. We trust in the law and its institutions but it seems that love and friendship must be left in the domain of intimate privacy. Law and politics may prevent discrimination against the handicapped in university entrance exams, but if the disability becomes an obstacle to building friendships and intimate relationships, nothing can be done. Is it impossible to legislate an act such as 'the Prohibition on Discrimination and Relief of Right in Love and Friendship'? We all discriminate in the way that we prefer something over another. Something is more beautiful or more interesting. The stage is the same. This new work asks the question - can such a thing as an ‘equal’ relationship exist on an ‘equal’ stage?
THE ARTISTS
KIM WON YOUNG
Kim Won Young participated in Project Theater Company's ‘Pajeon’ and 'Jit' for the Research Centre for Handicapped Culture and Art. He performed in the play 'Thérèse Raquin' and produced 'Freak Show' in Fringe Festival in 2014. This year he is a guest member of Theater Company ‘Aein’ and is developing new works and participating in various movement workshops.
0set PROJECT
The ‘0set’ comes from a button of electronic scale. Pressing the '0 set' button sets the weight of any object at zero. The company tries to rethink certain cultural and social premises, taken for granted, by putting them on the scale and pressing the '0set' button. 0set Project started in 2017 asking the question “Is theatre open to everyone?” and this central inquiry continues to provoke further questions. In trying to answer these, each new project brings together participants to conduct research, interviews, workshops, documenting etc. and from this process the performances are made.
